Common Treatment Approaches
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT is a goal-oriented therapy that believes emotions are at the core of all relationships, and that by understanding and expressing emotions, couples can build stronger and more satisfying relationships. Research has shown that couples who undergo EFT can experience a 70% recovery rate from relationship distress and an overall 90% increase in relationship satisfaction.
The Gottman Method
The Gottman Method teaches couples how to communicate their needs and feelings, and how to resolve conflict without resorting to destructive behaviors. encourages couples to “turn towards” each other, even when they are feeling negative emotions.
Bowen Family Systems Theory
Using the Family Systems Theory in family counseling can help families to understand their own patterns of behavior, identify areas where they need to improve and develop new ways of communicating and interacting.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is a research-based treatment for anxiety disorders such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and other phobias. ERP therapy in individual counseling gradually exposes individuals to their fears and obsessions, teaching healthier responses and enabling them to confront and manage distress caused by false threats.
Dustin Hall, is one of the few counselors in Bountiful, Utah, who specializes in using ERP for anxiety disorders.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Research has unveiled that our thoughts have a profound impact on how we perceive and respond to the world around us. CBT equips individuals and families with the tools to modify dysfunctional thinking patterns and create lasting change.
Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT equips individuals, couples, and families with powerful therapeutic skills in four crucial areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and assertiveness. By honing these skills, you gain the tools to effectively manage overwhelming emotions and reduce conflict in your relationships.
Dustin Hall, a trusted counselor in Bountiful, Utah, utilizes DBT in counseling sessions.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is an empirically-based treatment that empowers individuals to embrace acceptance, mindfulness, commitment, and behavior change strategies to create a more fulfilling life. Whether you’re seeking individual, couples, or family counseling, ACT can help you navigate through problems that may impact your relationships and overall well-being.
